This exhibition highlights the artwork of the late Richard Kaneiss who was a Cedarburg resident for 33 years. In this exhibition Kaneiss’ artwork spans from the 1960s through the late 1980s and ranges from newspaper illustration to deeply personal abstract painting.
Thanks to a generous 2025 gift from the late artist’s family, the Cedarburg Art Museum is proud to present several dozen works that reflect both Kaneiss’ 37-year career as an illustrator for the Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel newspapers and his independent explorations of color, shape, and form through painting.
Together, these works offer a rich view of an artist who balanced professional storytelling with personal experimentation.
